After searching for a kit to make a christmas ornament for my pet (and failing), I came upon the idea of salt dough ornaments. It is an easy inexpensive way to create memories this Christmas, especially since we are all looking for things to do while staying same at home this year.
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 cup of salt
- 1 cup of water
- cookie cutters (optional)
- straw
- mod podge
- string
- paint
- rolling pin
- Mix the 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of salt well
- Slowly add the water while stirring the mix
- Knead with your hands
- Roll the dough out
- Cut out shapes with cookie cutters or create your own ornaments using the dough as clay
- Use a straw to cut out a circle for the string
- Place them onto a baking sheet
- Bake at 300 F for 1 hour
- Let cool
- Paint the ornaments
- Wait for the paint to dry and then add mod podge
- Let dry and string the ornaments
- Hang and enjoy
