2. Reading Material: Be ready to entertain yourself by pre-downloading a few good books into your phone, tablet, or e-reader.

3. Headphones: Some airlines have small tv's for every passenger, but you might need plug-in headphones in order to listen. If you would rather watch or listen to something on your phone, then you may just use your wireless earphones.

4. Phone & Charger: Of course, forgetting your phone would suck! Remember to carry the phone charger with you as well to recharge at the gate or during the flight.

5. Small Wallet: Big wallets are great, but I love having a small wallet that I can fit just about anywhere and carry all the important ID's or credit cards I might need on the trip. 

6. Passport: I always prefer to be safe and travel with my passport. You have already spent the money on it, why not get your money's worth out of it and use it on every trip you make. 

7. Pouch full of toiletries essentials: If you have to catch a red eye or have to travel overnight, this is great to have on hand to quickly freshen up.

8. Pill Case: Even if you don't have to take prescriptions daily, always travel with a small case that contains a variety of medication, such as allergy medicine, headache medicine, and stomach medicine. Also, keep some lip balm, eye drops, lotion, and floss. 

9. Water Bottle: One hack I like to practice when I travel is to carry an empty water bottle with me through TSA and then filling it up at the water fountains at the gates. 

10. Snacks: Whether you get your snacks before or at the airport, remember to carry them with you in your personal item for easy access during the flight.

11. Sunglasses: I like packing my sunglasses in my personal item during a flight so I can make sure they don't get ruined inside my suitcase.

12. Light Cardigan: If you tend to get cold during flights, carry a light cardigan with you so you are ready in case this occurs.
