One of the most important places to visit in Puerto Rico are its beautiful beaches. Recently, I was looking for fun things to do that would allow me to get to know my island more at the same time. Upon searching, I found out about Kayaking Parguera Tours. So, we decided to give it a try and book their Island Hopping Kayak Tour.
If you are interested in doing this tour, my recommendation is to prepare. Wear bathing suits and clothing that can get wet, you WILL leave the kayak at different stops in shallow areas. Next, do not forget to protect your skin, especially since you will be out in the sun for a long time, the tour lasts three hours! One thing we were not prepared for was not having anywhere to store keys and things we did not want to get wet but still wanted or had to to take with us, so I would suggest packing plastic storage bags or something similar. Safely pack you camera too, because you will want to take many pictures, or just use a GoPro if you have one. They offer small boxes to store things in for a small fee, too. Another thing to be mentally ready for is that if you do not have previous kayaking experience, rowing can get tiring very fast. As I mentioned before, there are a few stops along the way, but it is exhausting; especially if you are rowing with a child, in which case, you will be doing most of the work. Finally, they said they would offer drinks and snacks, but on my tour they only offered us water. So if you think might get hungry, I suggest packing a few snacks to bring in your kayak, but please bring your garbage back to shore. We want to keep our marine life healthy.

That being said, it is worth it! So, on the day of the tour, we arrived at the departure location at 8:00 am and got ready to head in. We were given a tandem kayak with its paddles and life jackets. And after everyone was ready, we started the tour. The views are amazing! During the tour, we enjoyed the mangrove canals and sea life creatures. The water was so clear, it made us think the bottom of the ocean was near. It is definitely something you need to see for yourself. Taking a day to do something new and explore more of nature while you exercise is the perfect way to start any day.
